There is a thread on Howard Forums titled “Pwnage not Working on new Aluminum Macbook!!” with about two pages of postings from owners of the new aluminum Mac Book Pro’s and how they’re unable to jailbreak their iPhones. I don’t know if this is because there is a special iTunes version specifically for their hardware, which I highly doubt. But heres some excerpts.
So I never had a problem unlocking my iPhone using my white macbook but since I got my new aluminum macbook Pwnage just wont work. iTunes will not recognize my iPhone when in dfu so I can restore it. When I connect my iPhone to iTunes in DFU mode it does not give me an option to restore. I tried using my old white macbook again and it works fine, both macbooks are running the same version of leopard & itunes. Any suggestions?
I have a Alu MacBook and Pwnage worked just fine. My phone was pwned before so I just did a restore of the custom firmware. Did not place phone in DFU mode, just did straight restore.
I too have encountered this problem on my new MBP. No matter what I do, iTunes will not recognize the iPhone in DFU mode. I think it’s error 2001. However I can use my “Hackintosh” Acer Aspire One and everything’s fine. I don’t know what the problem is with the new MBP.
There’s not much else to go on, but definately a thread to watch incase Apple will be introducing the update to the masses.
